AVAILABLE
So you want one of my IG's?

A contract will be required for any of my dogs.

Applicants are to complete a questionnaire for one of my dogs.  This is to ensure the best "match" is made between owner and dog.   I want the best for my dogs and a home for life.  Should you be unable to keep the dog, it shall be returned to me.

Sorry, I have no puppies or adults available

Feel free to contact me to determine if I know of available puppies/adults in your area.   Or you may want to consider a rescue dog.

What is Rescue?

It is unfortunate that there is a need for Rescue in any breed, and Italian Greyhounds are no different.

There are many reasons that dogs are turned in to rescue; death in the family, new baby, moving or lack of knowledge about the breed.  The number one reason Italian Greyhounds are turned into rescue is due to housebreaking issues.  IG's are notoriously difficult to housebreak, but it can be accomplished with patience and consistency.

Rescue dogs make EXCELLENT pets!  Often times, the dogs are on their way or possibly housebroken and socialized.  Rescue "staff" are VOLUNTEERS that rehabilitate and evaluate those dogs surrendered into rescue (on top of travel, administrative duties, scheduling play dates, rescue events, veterinary appointments, etc.)  Rescue Volunteers are acutely aware of the foster dogs quirks, likes and dislikes; which makes it easier to place a dog with the right applicant.  Rescue Volunteers screen potential homes in order to place the right dog in the right FOREVER home.

If you are searching for that special IG, contact your local Rescue Representative at the link below.

Should you find yourself in a position where you can no longer care for your Italian Greyhound, PLEASE do not list the dog in a local newspaper for "free" as there are unscrupulous individuals that will pick up these dogs and use them for hideous acts.  A responsible breeder will take the dog back at any time in its life.

If you need assistance with placing your dog, please contact your state representative which can be found at http://www.italiangreyhound.org/pages/500rescue.html#reps.

If you would like to volunteer to assist Rescue, contact your local Representative.  Volunteers are always needed in the areas of Foster Homes, Transportation as well as Monetary Donations.  Donations may be made to the IGCA at:

If you are in the research phase in determining if this is the right breed for you, congratulations on your first step!   Any breed worth having, is worth researching!
